Implementation Rules for Accepting Undergraduate Major Transfers for the Spring 2025 Semester at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

I. Accepting Majors
Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments, Energy and Power Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering (Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program)

II. Workflow

  1. Students shall apply and submit their preferences through the academic management information system as required by the Undergraduate College.

  2. Students with priority eligibility for major transfer will be directly admitted.

  3. Students without priority eligibility may participate in the school's interview for major transfer if they pass the unified mathematics examination for major transfers and were science stream students (with Physics as a selected subject) during the college entrance examination.

  4. Students who fail the interview will not be eligible for transfer.

  5. For students who pass the interview, the school will determine a proposed admission list based on their academic performance, interview results, and the capacity of each major, and submit it to the Undergraduate College for unified public announcement.

  6. Interview format: The interview will last 5-10 minutes, including a 3-minute self-introduction and a Q&A session with experts.

  7. The proposed number of students to be accepted for each major shall be determined in accordance with Article 6 of the "Beijing Jiaotong University Management Measures for Undergraduate Major Transfers and Major Category分流" (2024).

III. Notes

  1. For students approved for major transfer, the school will arrange classes after credit recognition for courses already taken. First-year science and engineering students will join the class of their current grade after transferring, while first-year non-science and engineering students will need to join the next lower grade after transferring.

  2. Students transferring into the school will continue their studies in their original school for the current semester and will be managed according to their original major.
