MECE Undergraduates Achieve Excellent Results in the 27th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition National Finals

From August 4th to 6th, 2025, the 27th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition National Finals were held in Suzhou. Over a thousand teams from major universities across the country competed on the same stage. After fierce competition, undergraduate students from the School of Mechanical, Electronic and Control Engineering (MECE) performed exceptionally well in multiple events, including the Robot Innovation Competition, Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition, Intelligent Production Line Application Scenario, Urban Road Recognition, Intelligent Driving, Pollination Robot, and Smart Pharmacy. They ultimately won 4 first prizes, 6 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 2 excellence awards.

National First Prize Project Showcase

Innovation Leads the Future

Track/Event: Innovation Track / Robot Innovation Competition

Project Name: Tri-Modal Aircraft Based on Ground Effect

Team Members: Wang Shiyi, Zhao Danling, Liu Yirui

Project Introduction: This aircraft innovatively integrates three modes: vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), ground effect cruise, and fixed-wing high-speed cruise, achieving seamless multi-modal switching through an adaptive control architecture. The system uses a hierarchical control strategy, combining sliding mode control, LQR, and reinforcement learning algorithms to build a "perception-decision-execution" intelligent closed-loop, significantly improving low-altitude flight stability and efficiency.

Project Name: Kunpeng Soaring and Diving - A Water-Air Trans-Media Drone

Team Members: Zeng Jiate, Liu Qiaoyu, Xiao Jinghang

Project Introduction: This project innovatively mimics the water entry and exit postures of seabirds by designing a novel wing structure and using two separate power systems for control. It explores the bionic configuration mechanism for drones to achieve repeatable trans-media air/water-worthiness, breaking through key technologies such as underwater diving, water surface gliding, multi-domain flight, and attitude stability control across different media.

Practical Application Empowers Industry

Track/Event: Robot Application Track / Pollination Robot

Project Name: Intelligent Pistil Pioneer

Team Members: Li Boru, Shao Wenxin, Tang Cheng

Project Introduction: This project is centered on an autonomous mobile chassis equipped with perception devices such as LiDAR, a depth camera, and an IMU. Combined with the YOLO object detection algorithm, it can achieve real-time environmental modeling, precise flower recognition, and autonomous navigation. The system completes intelligent pollination and other tasks through a multi-degree-of-freedom, high-torque robotic arm with a replaceable end-effector.

Speed and Confrontation Showcase Strength

Track/Event: Robot Task Challenge / Smart Pharmacy

Project Name: Intelligent Machinery Pharma Cube

Team Members: Xu Maoqian, Zhang Xiying, Shen Yiting

Project Introduction: This project is equipped with a radar sensor and can construct a map of the actual scene using a Particle Filter SLAM algorithm. It autonomously plans and executes tasks using DWA for local obstacle avoidance and the Dijkstra algorithm for path planning. By utilizing its onboard camera and recognition algorithm, it can obtain medicine demand information from a recognition board and automatically complete the key task of medicine delivery.

Competition Introduction

The China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition is a national disciplinary contest with a long history and wide influence. The competition has cultivated a large number of well-rounded talents for our country who are "hands-on," "dare to innovate," and "good at collaboration." The competition is listed in the National University Discipline Competition Ranking and the Analysis Report on University Student Competitions, published by the China Association of Higher Education. The competition features four tracks: Innovation, Application, Competition, and Challenge, with over 30 events in total. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate, with registration typically in March/April each year. The competition system is divided into campus-level selections, Beijing municipal (provincial-level) selections, and the national finals.

The School of Mechanical, Electronic and Control Engineering places great emphasis on practical education and adheres to the talent cultivation philosophy of "promoting teaching, learning, and innovation through competition." By participating in this competition, the school has once again added landmark achievements for the university.
