Mechatronic Engineering

The Mechatronic Engineering (MTE) program deeply integrates technologies such as mechanics, electronics, and computer science to achieve the intelligent design and manufacturing of industrial products, making it a typical interdisciplinary field. This program is jointly offered by Beijing Jiaotong University and the University of Wollongong, Australia. It was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in 2013, passed the ministry's evaluation for Sino-foreign cooperative education in 2016, received professional accreditation from Engineers Australia in 2019, and was designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2022. Characterized by the "integration of mechanics and electronics with a global perspective," the program focuses on cutting-edge smart manufacturing, deeply integrating mechanical, electronic, and computer control technologies to cultivate high-level technical talents in the design, control, and operation of intelligent mechatronic equipment.

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is one of Australia's top eight engineering universities, founded in 1951. It is located in the coastal city of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, just an hour's drive from Sydney Airport. In 2025, UOW ranked 167th in the QS World University Rankings. Renowned for its exceptional education quality, UOW is recognized as one of the world's finest teaching institutions and is acclaimed as a five-star national university with "the best undergraduate education." Mechatronic Engineering is one of UOW's standout programs. According to Australia's Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) report, both its mechanical and electronic disciplines are ranked among the top in research strength. The program is accredited by the Washington Accord, the most influential international agreement for mutual recognition of undergraduate engineering degrees. This accreditation represents the internationally recognized authoritative standards for the professional competence of engineering graduates and engineers, serving as a license for engineers to practice across borders.
