【Academic Lecture】Dr. Xiao-Jun Yang of China University of Mining and Technology

          At 10:30 am, Xiao-Jun Yang gave an academic lecture entitled “Special functions with applications in conduction problems in porous medium” in the meeting room. He attended this lecture as well as graduate students from relevant majors.

          In this talk, we review the general fractional calculus proposed in 1884 by Russian mathematician Sonine based on the generalized version of the Abel type equation. We present the general fractional calculus based on the special functions, e.g., Miller-Ross function, Goreno-Mainardi function, Rabotnov function and Lorenzo-Hartley function. As a typical example, the conduction problems in porous medium is proposed due to the fractal behaviors in the fractional-time sense, which can be described by the Hausdorff metrics.

Heated discussion between Xiao-Jun Yang and students

           The report expands the academic view sight field and brought great interest among the students. A heated discussion was held during the lecture mainly aim at conduction problems in porous medium. After the lecture, He visit the laboratory under the guide by You-Wang Huang, PhD and Bin Liang, PhD.

            Xiao-Jun works in the state key laboratory of deep geotechnical mechanics and underground engineering of China University of Mining and Technology, yueqi scholar of China University of Mining and Technology, under the tutored of professor Feng Gao. Original work has been done in nonlinear science (mainly theory of anomalous shallow water waves), integral transformation, calculation methods and special functions. The above research achievements were awarded with one international Obada award in 2019, one dean's award in 2019 and one second prize of natural science in universities with educational scientific research achievements in Jiangsu province. He was selected as one of the young and middle-aged leaders of science and technology in Jiangsu province in 2018, as well as one of the 100 most influential international academic papers in China. He has published more than 160 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, including 130 SCI papers. ESI with high citation frequency was cited in 24 papers and 5 hot papers. Scopus H index was 35, and Web of Science H index was 29. He has published 5 English works in Elsevier. He is the editorial committee of 7 internationally renowned SCI journals, including Fractals, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, etc.
