Academic Team of Mechanism Innovation and Robotics contains 4 teachers, 10 doctoral candidates, and 12 postgraduate students. Professor Yao Yan’an is the team leader. Professor Yao is a doctoral supervisor, and he was elected in New Century Talent Project by education ministry. He is also the chief expert and executive deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Vehicle Advanced Manufacturing, Measuring and Control Technology (Beijing Jiaotong University), Ministry of Education. The laboratory has a Four-coordinate machining center, a 3D coordinate measurement machine and a comprehensive experimental platform of robotic vehicle and some other experimental equipments.
Academic team of mechanism innovation and robotics put forward the theory of “Full Closed Chain Mobile Linkage Mechanism”. This theory ingeniously merges traditional mechanism and modern robotics, and the team has invented hundreds of new mobile mechanism, more than 90 kinds of robot prototypes, more than 30 invention patents, more than 80 publications. The team hosted 3 National Science Foundation programs, more than 10 ministerial level defence programs and a number of horizontal programs.
The research interests of the team are putting forward mechanisms and machines with new concepts, and analyzing its construction, kinematics, dynamics as well as some concepts and methods of motion control.
