Institute of Thermal Engineering

Institute of Thermal Engineering is an affiliated research institution of School of Mechanical, Electronic and Control Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University. We mainly engaged in applied basic research and engineering application research in fields of Thermal Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, and training doctoral students and master students in related fields. At present, we have six permanent faculties, including two professors, three associate professors and one lecturer. Five of them have Ph.D degree and three of them have oversea research experience.

We have a good academic research environment, owning a natural gas regenerative combustion experiment platform, a flue gas condensation research platform, a natural gas oxygen-rich combustion platform, a boiling heat transfer research platform, a fuel cell research platform, a pulsating heat pipe research platform and a high-power lithium battery thermal test platform. In recent years, we carried out extensive research in related fields, such as the efficient use of natural gas, the combustion characteristics of biomass fuel, oxygen-rich combustion, boiling heat transfer, nuclear power plant cooling technology, pulsating heat pipe research and development, fuel cells and micro-scale heat transfer and other. We undertook many national projects as well as many cooperation academic projects with large energy companies, and made a number of achievements in scientific research. For the past few years, we received two provincial Science and Technology Award, and published nearly 200 academic papers in domestic or foreign journals, of which more than 30 papers were indexed by SCI, more than 60 papers were indexed by EI.
